About Us
To that end, he worked to develop a series of composite and durable materials which could be used in the applications of maritime safety, specifically for drop-flotation and reverse buoyancy safety markers. Joining Alcoa Group in 1989, Dr. Peeters’ work was focused on boating markers, but soon advanced into the area of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear. This supported Alcoa’s mining industries in offshore locations.
The invention of anti-buoyant submersible equipment simultaneously allowed maritime miners the ability to descend to the necessary depths for mineral extraction while maintaining a safe flotation underwater. Coined “sinking up” as a joke by Alcoa Chairman Paul O’Neill, the application appeared promising. Because, however, such products were outside of Alcoa’s typical product offerings, the Peeters division remained largely a research and development wing, until 2010.
In that year, Dr. Peeters was granted a green light to form LifeSink LLC, an independent organization with a dual focus: to bring the anti-buoyancy technology to the mining industry in full, while exploring recreational uses for citizen divers the world over.
With its world headquarters located in Paramaribo Suriname, LifeSink stands poised to revolutionize both industries, launching its SolidCore™ line in 2015. A key component to that product launch is to ensure all design, development and manufacturing operations involved in the SolidCore™ line are ISO 9001 certified.
